What happens in Year 4?
Year 4 is a phase of consolidation and preparation. Children will cement the skills learnt in Year 3 and the groundwork is set for independent learning in Year 5.
Many exciting things happen during Year 4:
We hold themed days based on our learning in Topic – dressing up, dancing and enjoying ourselves.
We enjoy some fabulous reading together in Book study.
Day-by-day guide
Please make sure you read every night and get your reading record signed. Make sure you have the correct resources with you in your pencil case and remember your PE kit on the right day. See the uniform page for further information.
All children have swimming in the Summer Term.
Homework
Homework is set on a WEDNESDAY and due in the following MONDAY.
If you want to find your homework overview for the current week, check the Homework Classroom on Google.
Children should read for 10 minutes every night and at least once during the weekend (Friday to Sunday). If a child finishes the scheme book then they should continue to read (any book) for the remaining time up to 10 minutes. Books are changed on a daily basis.
Throughout the year we will be setting project based homework. This will usually link to our topic and will give the children a chance to research and then present what they find out about the subject.
