Rights Respecting Schools
In September 2024, Coombe Hill Junior school was proud to be awarded a Gold "Rights Respecting School" Award. This is an award given to schools by UNICEF, a leading organisation for children and their rights. This means that we have embedded children's rights in our school's practice and ethos. We put children's rights at the heart of our school. We work along side UNICEF to create safe and inspiring places to learn, where children are respected, their talents are nurtured and they are able to thrive.
Children, young people and adults at Coombe Hill Junior School have a thorough understanding of child rights, and rights respecting attitudes and language are embedded across the school.
RRSA has had a positive impact on children and young people’s learning and wellbeing,
Students see themselves as rights respecting global citizens and are advocates for social justice, fairness and children’s rights at home and abroad.
Children and young people also play an increasingly leading role in driving Our Rights Respecting School Award embeds these values in daily school life and gives children the best chance to lead happy, healthy lives and to be responsible, active citizens. Our school ensures that every pupil sees their culture and identity valued.
Each class, as you can see below, develops their own Class Charter which sets out the rights respecting actions expected for everybody in the class in order to protect the rights of the people in the classroom.
Congratulations to our Rights Respecting Schools steering group , who were nominated by their classes. These children help Mrs Lucioni to ensure that ALL children know their rights and how they are respected at school.
