Creative, Encouraging, Aspiring.
At Coombe Hill Junior School we are committed to ensuring that every child can thrive. Our inclusive ethos means we work actively to remove barriers so that disadvantaged pupils make strong progress and feel confident, valued and ready to learn. We believe in high ambition for all pupils and we prioritise those who may need extra support to achieve their potential.
Pupil Premium is additional funding provided to schools to improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils. This includes pupils eligible for free school meals, children who are looked after or previously looked after and children with a parent in the armed forces. The funding helps us close gaps in attainment and ensure equity across all areas of school life.
We use Pupil Premium funding to provide carefully targeted support that makes a real difference to pupils’ learning, wellbeing and engagement. Our approach is shaped by evidence, strong relationships and a deep understanding of what each child needs to flourish. This support may include:
high quality teaching, adapted to meet individual needs
targeted interventions in reading, writing and maths
small group tuition and precision teaching
emotional literacy and wellbeing support from our ELSA team
access to enrichment opportunities such as clubs, trips and music tuition
support with uniform or essential school items where needed
structured nurture or pastoral support for pupils who may require additional guidance
We track progress closely and review provision regularly so that support remains responsive and effective. We work in partnership with families to ensure pupils feel secure, motivated and ready to learn.
At Coombe Hill we want every pupil to experience high quality teaching, rich learning experiences and a strong sense of belonging. We aim to remove any disadvantage that may limit a child’s progress and provide the support needed to build confidence and resilience. This is part of our wider inclusion work and aligns strongly with our Rights Respecting and attachment aware ethos.
